Trump says lifting Russia curbs aims to keep Moscow at talks

WASHINGTON: US President Donald Trump has said he does not want to take any step that would push Russia away from negotiations.

According to a foreign news agency, he said in a statement that the decision to remove sanctions and tariffs related to Russian exports was an effort to keep Russia at the negotiating table.

Mr Trump said his decision on Russia was very simple. "I am holding talks for peace in the ongoing war between Russia and Ukraine."
