Sibi commissioner visits Government Boys Degree College, addresses students

SIBI: Sibi Division Commissioner Irfanullah Khan visited Government Boys Degree College Sibi on 28 October. College Principal Muhammad Naeem gave him a detailed briefing on the institution’s overall performance, academic activities, available facilities and the problems it faces.
The commissioner inspected several departments of the college, including the botany, zoology, chemistry and physics laboratories. He also put questions to students and assessed their academic ability, interest and learning.
Student’s app and address to students
During the visit, Commissioner Irfanullah Khan met a student who had developed an app on his own. He praised the student’s creativity, interest in modern technology and individual effort. He assured the student that the possibility of providing financial support to improve and take forward his app project would be examined.
He said encouraging the creative abilities of young people and giving them opportunities to move ahead in modern technology was an important need of the time.
Addressing the students, Commissioner Irfanullah Khan said the present age was one of digital technology and modern knowledge, with countless sources of learning available. He said that if students had difficulty understanding a subject during lessons, they could improve their understanding by watching videos on the topic on YouTube and other educational sources through mobile phones and the internet.
He said resources alone were not enough for success, and that hard work, perseverance, dedication and a desire to learn were of fundamental importance. Speaking of his own experience, the commissioner told the students that in the past, despite limited resources, students studied with hard work and dedication, and their elders even studied by moonlight.
He urged the students to make full use of the modern facilities available, to focus on their studies, and to prepare themselves to play an effective role in the development of the country and the province in the future.
College administration’s problems and directives
On the occasion, the college administration told the commissioner about the construction of an examination hall, repairs to the water supply, installation of barbed wire on the college boundary wall, a shortage of teaching staff and other problems. Commissioner Irfanullah Khan assured them that the relevant authorities would be contacted on problems that needed the attention of senior officials, while the necessary steps would be taken to resolve those that could be solved locally.
He stressed that coordinated efforts were essential to resolve the problems of educational institutions and to provide students with a better learning environment.
The commissioner directed the college administration to ensure transparency in the collection and deposit of students’ fees by having fees deposited through banks and avoiding manual methods. He also stressed co-curricular activities alongside academic ones. He said the college should hold talent hunt programmes, debates, speech competitions, sports and other positive activities so that students’ hidden talents could be brought out and their personalities developed in every respect.
In line with the vision of Balochistan Chief Minister Mir Sarfraz Bugti, effective steps continue to improve educational institutions, encourage students and bring the young generation in step with modern requirements.
