NASEERABAD: A delegation of disabled persons met Naseerabad Deputy Commissioner Virender Lal. It was led by Bashir Ahmed Mangrio, registered president of the Special Persons Organisation Naseerabad Balochistan, and General Secretary Zulqarnain Bhangar. The delegation briefed him in detail on the problems, difficulties and basic facilities of disabled persons in the district.

Members of the delegation said disabled persons face difficulties in obtaining disability certificates from the Social Welfare Department. As a result, they find it hard to get the facilities and benefits available at government and non-government levels. The delegation stressed the need to create job opportunities for educated and talented disabled persons, especially recruitment in non-governmental organisations (NGOs) according to their educational qualifications. It demanded that the departments concerned be directed to ensure easy access to government facilities so that disabled persons can become respected and active members of society.

Deputy Commissioner Virender Lal listened carefully to the delegation’s problems. He assured them that the district administration would extend every possible cooperation in resolving the genuine problems of disabled persons. He said practical steps would be taken by contacting officers of the departments concerned. He said special persons are an important part of society, and their welfare, the protection of their basic rights and the provision of facilities are among the district administration’s priorities. He assured the delegation that steps would be taken soon, after consultation with the authorities concerned, to resolve issues related to disability certificates, job opportunities and other genuine problems.
