Ten children burnt as school van catches fire in Murree

Upon receiving news of the accident, nearby emergency teams of Rescue 1122 immediately reached the scene.

According to Rescue officials, the rescuers acted in time and safely took out the children travelling in the vehicle. The injured children were given first aid on the spot. All of them were then shifted to Civil Hospital Murree for further treatment.

Meanwhile, the firefighting team of Rescue 1122 brought the fire in the vehicle under control. Cooling work was also completed at the scene.

Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif expressed grief and sorrow over the students being burnt in the van accident in Murree and sought a report.

Taking notice of overloading and the lack of safety arrangements against fire, as noted in the initial report, Maryam Nawaz Sharif ordered a zero-tolerance policy on safety arrangements and fitness of school vans.

She said it was sad and painful that clear orders on school van safety had not been implemented. The Commissioner Rawalpindi will personally supervise the treatment of the injured children.
