Punjab took no one’s right, gave others from its share: CM Maryam Nawaz

Addressing the inauguration ceremony of the electric bus service in Multan, Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif said the criticism is not against her but against the development of Punjab. She said they are upset over the Rs9 billion aircraft. “The aircraft is not mine. It belongs to the Punjab Chief Minister. I will not take it home,” she said.
Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif said she also went to the flood victims by boat during the Floods. She said every chief minister has a government aircraft, but only she is criticised. “Those who criticise are not upset about the aircraft. They are upset about Maryam Nawaz’s work,” she said.
Maryam Nawaz said her daughter had a graduation ceremony, and she paid Rs27.5 million from her own pocket for the use of the aircraft.
She said a few people came from Khyber Pakhtunkhwa to attack Punjab. The Chief Minister of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa forcibly sat in a police vehicle to put on a spectacle, she said. The visit of the people from Khyber Pakhtunkhwa to Lahore failed, she added.
Speaking about the electric bus, she said the standard fare for the service has been set at just Rs20. However, for the convenience of the public, travel will be 100 per cent free for women, students, persons with disabilities and senior citizens above 60 years of age.
Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif said the Green Bus service is being extended to the farthest limits of Punjab so that people across the province can benefit from modern and affordable travel facilities.
She said green electric buses will run on all routes in Multan. Wheelchair and ramp facilities have been provided for persons with special needs. CCTV cameras have been installed in the green buses for the safety of women. “Every person living in Punjab is my responsibility. Under my government, no one will travel on the roof of a bus,” she said.
She said she had brought a modern cancer machine from China to Mayo Hospital, Lahore. She said she had just inaugurated the second such machine in Punjab at Multan. Two women were treated with this machine, she said, and she had interviewed them. Their treatment was completed in 45 minutes.
