Four more killed in Manipur ethnic clashes, toll in five days rises to 9
NEW DELHI: Four more people have been killed in fresh clashes amid the ongoing ethnic violence in Manipur, according to the Indian newspaper Hindustan Times.
The report said at least 9 people have been killed in the clashes over the past five days. The ethnic violence is reported to remain out of control three years on.
According to the Indian publication Telangana Today, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) government has completely failed to protect human rights and stop the violence in Manipur.
In response to the latest killings, local residents and civil society organisations have called a complete strike.
According to international human rights experts, the continuing unrest and killings raise questions over the BJP government’s claims about law and order.
