LORALAI: A dignified national flag-hoisting ceremony was held at the Deputy Commissioner’s Office in Loralai on Youm-e-Istehsal Kashmir, led by Deputy Commissioner Captain (retd) Muhammad Haseeb Shuja. SSP Loralai Dr Fahad Ahmed, Assistant Commissioner Nadeem Akram, Additional Deputy Commissioner Ali Nawaz, officers of the district administration, police and government departments, representatives of civil society and citizens attended.
After the flag was hoisted, the national anthem was played and a smart police contingent presented a salute. The participants prayed for the country’s security and stability and for the people of Indian-occupied Jammu and Kashmir.
A rally was then taken out to express solidarity with the Kashmiri people. It began at the Deputy Commissioner’s Office and passed through several main roads of the city. The participants carried national flags, banners and placards bearing slogans in support of the Kashmiri people, in favour of the right to self-determination and against Indian actions. They called on the international community to play its role in a just solution to the Kashmir issue.
Deputy Commissioner’s address
Deputy Commissioner Muhammad Haseeb Shuja said that 5 August 2019 was an important day in the history of South Asia, when India ended the special constitutional status of Indian-occupied Jammu and Kashmir and took unilateral steps that violate United Nations resolutions and international law. He said Pakistan would continue its political, diplomatic and moral support for the Kashmiris’ right to self-determination and would never leave their struggle alone.
He said the purpose of observing Youm-e-Istehsal Kashmir was to draw the world’s attention to the human rights situation in occupied Kashmir, restrictions on basic freedoms and the problems of the Kashmiri people. Other speakers also paid tribute to the sacrifices of the Kashmiri people. They said the Kashmir issue should be resolved in line with United Nations resolutions and the wishes of the Kashmiri people, so that lasting peace could be established in the region.
At the end of the ceremony, a special prayer was offered for Pakistan’s security, progress and national unity, for the success of the Pakistan Armed Forces and for the freedom of Indian-occupied Jammu and Kashmir.
