LASBELA: Deputy Commissioner Lasbela Humaira Baloch has said that equipping young people with modern information technology and digital skills is an important need of the time. She said only skilled youth can play an effective role in the country’s development, economic stability and prosperity. For this reason, the Balochistan government is paying special attention to providing young people with technical and vocational skills in line with modern requirements.

She said this during a visit to the IT Skill Development Centre of the Lasbela University of Agriculture, Water and Marine Sciences (LUAWMS). Earlier, the Deputy Commissioner met Vice Chancellor Prof Dr Abdul Malik Tareen. The meeting discussed technical and vocational education for youth, the promotion of information technology, the development of digital skills and the creation of job opportunities through modern technology. Brigadier Fawad Ahmed was also present.

The Deputy Commissioner later toured the IT Skill Development Centre in detail. She was briefed on its modern computer laboratories, digital learning facilities and ongoing training programmes.

Praising the performance of the centre, Humaira Baloch said such centres play an important role in giving young people modern skills that match market needs, creating self-employment opportunities and bringing them into the mainstream of national development. She said the district administration would continue to support, in every possible way, efforts to build the capacity of youth, promote quality technical and vocational education and run skills-based training programmes.

Briefing the visitors on the IT skill development programmes and the academic and research activities under way at the university, Vice Chancellor Prof Dr Abdul Malik Tareen said effective steps were being taken to equip young people with world-class education and modern technical skills so that they could succeed at the national and international levels.

Registrar Dr Balach Rasheed, Dean Faculty of Education Dr Ahmed Nawaz Khosa, Additional Deputy Commissioner Lasbela Siraj Ahmed and other officials concerned were also present during the visit.
