HARNAI: On 19 October, the district administration of Harnai was seen fully active under directives on administrative vision and public welfare. In this connection, Khost Assistant Commissioner Israr Ahmed Shahwani made a surprise and detailed visit to Khost bazaar.

The main purpose of the visit was to review the implementation of official price lists in the bazaar, remove encroachments, improve the flow of traffic and inspect the overall state of cleanliness.

Implementation of price lists

The assistant commissioner closely inspected various shops, vegetable and fruit stalls, meat shops (butchers) and general stores. He checked the prices of daily-use items, especially fresh vegetables, meat and other common goods.

He strictly directed shopkeepers to display the government-approved and fixed official price list prominently in their shops and to sell goods only at the set rates.

Charging customers more than the official rates will not be tolerated under any circumstances. Any shopkeeper found profiteering or violating official orders will face strict legal and penal action.

Encroachments, traffic and cleanliness

The assistant commissioner reviewed the main roads and footpaths to ease the movement of citizens, shoppers and the elderly. Shopkeepers were directed not to spread goods and encroachments onto the roads so that passages are not blocked.

Necessary orders were issued on the spot to keep the flow of traffic smooth for vehicles, motorcycles and pedestrians.

During the inspection, cleanliness and hygiene standards were also reviewed. The staff concerned were given strict instructions to ensure proper disposal of garbage and to improve the sanitation system. Shopkeepers were told to take special care of cleanliness in front of their shops so that the public gets a clean and healthy environment.

The assistant commissioner made it clear that ensuring public welfare principles and respect for the law is among the district administration’s top priorities. Such surprise inspections and visits will continue regularly in future so that the public can be fully protected from inflation, unfair profiteering and mismanagement.
