TURBAT: On the directions of Kech Deputy Commissioner Yasir Iqbal Dashti, the Kech district administration and the Irrigation Department took action against illegal water supply and water theft in the Mirani Dam command area. Several illegal connections were disconnected.

The action was carried out under the supervision of Naib Tehsildar Dasht Bahot Dashti and Sher Jan Baloch of the Irrigation Department, Mirani Dam. Illegally installed pipes were removed and destroyed. The means of illegal water supply were also dismantled.

Officials strictly warned those involved in water theft to stop using illegal connections and unauthorised water at once. Otherwise, they said, stricter action would be taken under the law.

Deputy Commissioner Yasir Iqbal Dashti said ensuring the fair and lawful use of water in Mirani Dam and its command area was among the district administration’s top priorities. He directed that action against water theft and illegal connections continue without discrimination, so that all deserving farmers could make fair use of the available water resources.

He said the administration was taking every possible step to improve the agriculture sector and give farmers their rightful share of water. He directed officers to monitor the water distribution system in the command area regularly and to act at once against any illegal activity.

The district administration said water was a national and collective asset. It said its illegal use and theft would not be allowed under any circumstances.
