Govt to take 3 LNG cargoes from Qatar amid supply fears; Iran contact planned

ISLAMABAD (Atemad Desk): Amid fears over LNG supplies, the government has decided to take three LNG cargoes from Qatar. It is also preparing to contact Iranian officials to ensure the safe and uninterrupted passage of the cargoes.

According to sources, the aim of contacting Iranian officials is to ensure that there is no obstruction on the sea route and that the cargoes can reach Pakistan on time.

The development comes at a time when QatarEnergy has extended the force majeure period on LNG supplies to Pakistan until 4 November.

Meanwhile, officials have expressed fears that the energy disruption may continue into the coming winter. Immediate and alternative measures are therefore being taken to deal with a possible gas crisis in the country.
