DUKI: A key meeting of the District Education Group (DEG) was held in Duki district to make the education system more effective and active. Assistant Commissioner Duki Muhammad Akram Haripal chaired it. District Education Officer Syed Amir Shah Bukhari, relevant officials of the Education Department, monitoring staff and other officials attended.

At the start, the meeting reviewed in detail the implementation of the decisions of the previous meeting. It considered teacher attendance, field visit reports, school performance, the district’s education plans, ongoing development measures and progress towards education targets.

Several proposals and recommendations were presented on promoting teaching in government educational institutions, raising student attendance, providing basic facilities, the professional duties of teachers, improving examination results and making the monitoring system more effective. The participants stressed that all relevant departments should perform their duties in mutual cooperation and under a coordinated strategy to improve the quality of education.

Action ordered against absent staff

Assistant Commissioner Muhammad Akram Haripal directed that regular monitoring of all educational institutions across the district be ensured. He directed that the attendance of teachers and other staff be closely watched, that action be taken under the rules against absent and negligent employees, and that immediate and effective steps be taken to make closed or inactive schools functional.

He further directed that the Balochistan government’s education reforms and the ongoing programmes on school enrolment drives, admission of children to schools, promotion of girls’ education and quality teaching be fully implemented. This, he said, would give every child in Duki district a better, safe and quality learning environment.

The meeting decided that surprise visits to educational institutions would be stepped up and that poorly performing institutions would be specially monitored. Suitable measures to encourage teachers and schools with the best performance would also be proposed.

The participants pledged that all available resources would be used to improve the education sector in Duki district, secure a bright future for students and achieve the government’s education targets. They said education reforms would be implemented effectively.
