Every citizen will be expected to make sacrifices in war, warns British Army chief

LONDON: The chief of the British Army, General Sir Roly Walker, has issued a warning about the risks of war.
Addressing soldiers in North Yorkshire, he said political leaders would have to speak openly to the British public about preparing for war.
He said every citizen would be expected to make sacrifices and play a part in defending the country.
He told the soldiers: “You do not know it, but the nation is going to need you.”
According to General Walker, political leaders will have to persuade the public to make sacrifices for the defence and security of the country.
Reports of awareness campaign
According to international media reports, the British Prime Minister will also launch a new awareness campaign on the issue. The campaign will aim to encourage people to prepare for crises, floods, droughts and wars.
It may be recalled that in a survey the previous day, 48 per cent of the public said they were not in favour of taking part in a war.
