Vivek Oberoi Says Film Industry Power Lobby Stalled His Career, Underworld Threats Claimed

Bollywood actor Vivek Oberoi has said that a powerful section of the film industry isolated him in the early 2000s, and that the period was like a real hell for him. He made the remarks in an interview with Reelrun.
According to Vivek, he spoke out against something he considered wrong. He said his view was that there is a line that should not be crossed and that respect for women is essential. He said he was harassed heavily after that.
He said that despite hit films such as Company and Saathiya and several awards, a powerful lobby made him an unwanted person. According to him, people began to back away even from films he had already signed.
The actor claimed that producers who initially stood by him on a matter of principle later began apologising after a few weeks, saying they had received calls from the underworld warning that making a film with this man would end badly. Vivek did not name anyone.
He said the lack of work was not due to his ability, performance or hard work, but to circumstances over which he had no control.
Vivek Oberoi appeared this year as Vidyut Jamwal’s character in Nitesh Tiwari’s film Ramayana: Part One. He is also part of the cast of Sandeep Reddy Vanga’s upcoming film Spirit, which stars Prabhas and Triptii Dimri.
