CHENNAI: South Indian actors Dhanush and Sai Pallavi attended the pre-release event of their upcoming film, Om – Chapter 1: Udhiram – The Blood Wood. The event, held at a college on Friday, was also attended by Mumty and the film’s team.

Sai Pallavi remarked that the flags held up by Dhanush’s fans along the route made it look like a political rally. Addressing Dhanush, she said she would support whatever he chose to do, though she noted that Vijay had recently entered politics and given up acting. She said she would continue to hope and pray that Dhanush would always remain with her as an actor. The audience responded loudly when Vijay’s name was mentioned.

Responding to speculation about his possible political activities, Dhanush said some people claimed someone was controlling him, but that only God showed him the way. He said his fans were behind him and the public was with him. He also expressed excitement about his upcoming projects.

Dhanush praised Sai Pallavi’s acting and said her selection for the role of Sita in Ramayana was the right choice. He recalled that when they first worked together on Maari 2, Sai was very shy off camera and spoke little. He said he was surprised by her confidence in Om, nine years later.

In the film, Sai Pallavi plays CBI officer Nithya Reddy, who investigates the illegal trade in red sandalwood.
