Lahore: The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has decided not to issue No Objection Certificates (NOCs) to national cricketers for participation in the Afghanistan Premier League.

Sources said the decision has been taken under the board’s policy. An NOC is the document through which a home board permits a player to take part in a foreign league.

According to sources, former captain Wasim Akram was offered a mentor’s role in the Afghanistan Premier League, but he has decided not to go against the PCB’s policy.

Meanwhile, the PCB has also decided not to grant NOCs to national cricketers in this regard.

It may be recalled that former Pakistan fast bowler Mohammad Amir has previously been part of the Afghanistan Premier League. He played in the league as a British citizen.

Thus, two different situations have emerged regarding the same league: one player has already taken part, while national cricketers have been denied permission.

Sources have not yet disclosed further details of the decision, such as the date it takes effect or the board’s formal position on it. Cricket circles are keeping a close watch on the matter.
