Naseerabad DC Virendar Lal directs monitoring of medicines and staff attendance at health centres

NASEERABAD: A meeting of the District Health Committee was held under the chairmanship of Naseerabad Deputy Commissioner Virendar Lal. District Health Officer Dr Ayaz Hussain Jamali, PPHI District Support Manager Tariq Shahbaz, Manzoor Shirazi and officers of the Health Department and other departments attended.
The meeting reviewed in detail the medical facilities provided in the district, the performance of basic health centres, the availability of medicines, the attendance of doctors and paramedical staff, difficulties faced by patients and other issues. Officers briefed the Deputy Commissioner.
Deputy Commissioner Virendar Lal said the Balochistan government had made the provision of basic and quality health facilities one of its top priorities. He said health was a basic human need, so officers and staff in this sector should perform their duties not merely as official obligations but in the spirit of public service.
He said it was essential to keep basic health centres in remote areas functional and to ensure timely attendance of staff and ample supplies of essential medicines, so that poor and middle-class people did not have to travel to big cities for minor treatment. He directed that medicines, staff attendance and facilities at centres across the district be monitored regularly and that public complaints be taken seriously.
Virendar Lal said that treating patients and their families politely was also the responsibility of Health Department staff. He said the district administration would continue to cooperate fully with the Health Department so that people could get timely and quality medical care at their doorstep.
