Every party may protest peacefully, but violence not allowed: Rana Sanaullah

Speaking on the programme “Dunya Mehar Bukhari Ke Sath”, Rana Sanaullah said backchannel contacts were continuing. He said Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Sohail Afridi had two aims: first, to secure the release of the PTI founder, and second, to bring down the government.

He said Sohail Afridi was saying in his speeches that he would not return without getting the PTI founder released. Petitions regarding the PTI founder’s release are pending in the Supreme Court and the High Court.

The Prime Minister’s adviser said Sohail Afridi was talking about a march on Islamabad. However, he said, peaceful protest was everyone’s right, but violence could not be allowed.

On the debate over provinces, Rana Sanaullah said the government would give its position when the matter came before Parliament.

He added that it was not for the government to decide; Parliament would decide. He said the power to hold a referendum rested with a joint session of Parliament. Until the matter was debated in Parliament, nothing could be said, he added.
