USTA MUHAMMAD: A weekly review meeting was held under the chairmanship of Deputy Commissioner Muhammad Ramzan Palal. It reviewed in detail the lasting resolution of citizens’ complaints raised in the open court and progress on development projects under the Balochistan Special Development Initiative.

The meeting directed that problems be resolved promptly and development projects be completed on time. Assistant Commissioner Usta Muhammad Maria Shamoon and other officers concerned attended.

Open court and complaints

The meeting reviewed in detail the complaints citizens had raised in the open court, the steps taken by the departments concerned to address them, and progress on various development projects. Officers of the departments concerned briefed the Deputy Commissioner on the measures taken to resolve the problems faced by citizens.

The meeting discussed complaints about electricity, gas, the Benazir Income Support Programme, the lack of clean drinking water, sanitation and other basic civic facilities. The officers concerned said that steps had been taken on a priority basis to address the complaints and that the departments concerned were fulfilling their responsibilities.

Deputy Commissioner Muhammad Ramzan Palal directed that public complaints should not be treated as a mere formality, and that permanent and lasting solutions should be ensured. He said the officers concerned should take citizens’ complaints seriously, take effective steps to resolve them and regularly review progress on every complaint, so that citizens did not have to approach the open court repeatedly over the same problem.

He made it clear that timely redress of public problems was the basic responsibility of government departments and that no negligence or delay in this regard would be tolerated.

Development projects

The meeting also reviewed in detail the various development projects completed under the Balochistan Special Development Initiative (BSDI), the pace of ongoing work, progress, and the problems faced during implementation.

The Deputy Commissioner directed the officers of the departments concerned to speed up work on development projects and adopt an effective strategy to complete all projects within the set time. He said that timely completion of development projects would help improve the provision of basic facilities to the public and advance the development of the area.

He further directed the officers concerned to supervise development projects themselves, ensure the quality and transparency of construction work and adherence to deadlines, and keep the district administration regularly informed of progress. He said obstacles to completing projects should be identified and removed immediately so that the benefits of public welfare projects reached the people on time.

Deputy Commissioner Muhammad Ramzan Palal expressed the resolve that the district administration would continue to work with all departments concerned to resolve public problems, improve basic facilities and complete development projects effectively. He urged the officers to give public service top priority and to perform their duties with dedication, transparency and a sense of responsibility, so that the benefits of government measures reached ordinary citizens.
