KARACHI: Sindh Governor Syed Muhammad Nehal Hashmi has urged the newly elected office-bearers of the Appleta Memon Association to perform their duties with honesty and a spirit of service. He also asked them to promote welfare activities and play an active role in national development.

Addressing the association’s oath-taking ceremony, he congratulated the newly elected office-bearers. He said the association had been carrying forward the welfare mission of its elders for decades. He said its services in education, health and social work were commendable.

He said that at the time of the creation of Pakistan, the companions of Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah and the elders of the Memon community played a prominent role in the Pakistan Movement. He said we should remember the sacrifices of our elders and carry their mission forward.

Emphasis on investment and youth

Syed Muhammad Nehal Hashmi urged the business community to invest in Pakistan, particularly in Karachi. He said that when Pakistan progressed, the people and the business community would also progress, because the business community had an important role in the economic development of the country and the city.

The Sindh governor said business organisations and welfare bodies could take effective steps, through mutual cooperation, to create opportunities in education, health, technical training and employment. He said young people should benefit from modern technology, artificial intelligence and business innovation.

He said the Prime Minister’s Youth Programme offered important possibilities for young people to refine their abilities and benefit from business opportunities. He said the positive participation of youth in national affairs and politics was also important for the country’s future.

At the ceremony, Special Assistant to the Punjab Chief Minister Rashid Nasrullah administered the oath to the newly elected office-bearers of the association. The Sindh governor praised the services of the association’s patron, Haji Masood Parekh, and other members.
