Someone pushed us into Bhutto’s Pakistan, says Khalid Maqbool Siddiqui

KARACHI: Muttahida Qaumi Movement-Pakistan (MQM-P) chairman Dr Khalid Maqbool Siddiqui has said that Karachi was the capital of the country in Quaid-e-Azam’s Pakistan. He said that he and his forefathers had come to Quaid’s Pakistan, but someone pushed them into Bhutto’s Pakistan.
Addressing party members the other day, he said the demand for new provinces predates the MQM. He said Pakistan was created through the efforts of their forefathers, and their issue begins with Bhutto’s Pakistan.
Karachi and Sindh
He said Karachi was not part of Sindh until the 1970s. According to him, the country has no connection with a history of 5,000 years. Whenever Sindh is discussed, he said, people bring up 5,000 years of history.
Khalid Maqbool said they had built the country in a place where they did not live, and had made countless sacrifices for it. He said that when the capital was changed, the One Unit system was in place. When the provinces were restored, there was no referendum or vote, and Karachi was made part of Sindh without Karachi being asked.
