PML-Q Denies Chaudhry Salik Hussain Backed Qazi Ibrahim Gujjar in NA-77

Islamabad: Pakistan Muslim League-Q has denied reports that Chaudhry Salik Hussain announced support for Qazi Ibrahim Gujjar in the NA-77 by-election. The party spokesperson made the statement on Saturday, according to 24 News HD.
Spokesperson Mustafa Malik said that neither Chaudhry Salik Hussain nor his elder brother, Chaudhry Shafay Hussain, had formally announced support for any candidate in the constituency. He described the reports as baseless rumours.
The spokesperson said the decision to back Qazi Ibrahim Gujjar was taken by the party’s local organisation on its own initiative. He asked that this local decision not be attributed to Chaudhry Salik Hussain or the central leadership.
Malik made clear that, as a political party, PML-Q has not yet taken any formal decision on the NA-77 by-election. According to him, the party’s district organisation has decided at its own level not to support the Pakistan Muslim League-N candidate in the constituency.
The spokesperson also accused Chief Minister of Punjab Maryam Nawaz and her team of running a sustained campaign against Chaudhry Salik Hussain. He said repeated criticism of the party leader by the Punjab government was causing unrest among workers.
He added that party workers in Gujranwala and other parts of the country were strongly expressing anger over this alleged campaign.
